Carroll County Kitchen Remodel
Have you ever walked into a home and felt as if a couple more feet would make a big difference in any given room? This home is a perfect example of that dilemma. This late 90’s production built home was missing space in all the wrong areas. The homeowners desired to sit and spend leisurely time at a real island. Their second wish was to have a larger refrigerator that could accommodate more than one or two leftover meals, so two Frigidaire Professional 19 Cubit Ft refrigerators were chosen and installed side by side. All of the other appliances chosen were stainless steel by GE Monogram.
The solution was to temporarily support the existing second floor of the home, install a large beam and remove bearing and non-bearing walls. A challenging kitchen remodel, but well worth it according to the homeowners. We then removed the old kitchen and installed new Koch Classic Cabinets painted Oyster. The counter tops kept with the neutral theme in white Macaubas Quartzite and the resilient flooring that the homeowners decided upon was Happy Floors Lefka- gray- 12 x 24 , also a neutral color. For a special design touch a focal point was added to the light and bright kitchen; a tile back splash from Chesapeake Tile showing off South Beach Tear Drop ceramic tile, the colors Lento and Mink.
As you can see by the before and after photos above, the removal of the dining room wall shared with the kitchen, the addition of neutral colors in lieu of the dark wood stained cabinets and black counter tops, offers this updated remodel a bright and clean feel, which draws the family and friends to come and gather. The new configuration of this Design Build project enables for more storage space in one of the most frequently accessed room in the house. That is also why custom built-in cubbies were created for the drop off of coats, shoes, backpacks, keys and such.
The homeowners are very pleased with the transformation and the kitchen has become more functional, as well as beautiful, just by adding a few extra feet!
