Habitat for Humanity Builds in Westminster, MD

Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County, MD is proud to announce our Donor & Volunteers for our next project.

Nearly 30 Habitat volunteers, donors and friends will offer their time and talent for 174 Schaefer Ave. and partner with Ms. Zoe Dorsey as the latest Habitat Recipient of a family home along with her 4 children.

Zoe’s future home at 174 Schaefer (two stories, three bedrooms, and two baths) is an existing property located in Westminster, MD. Zoe, her family, friends and over 50 Habitat volunteers will begin a 10 week rehabilitation of the property starting on October 8th. Rehab work needed includes but not limited to: a newly built deck; painted walls; internal demo of walls; dry-wall replacement; and thorough landscaping work.

Over 10 corporate sponsors pledged financial and gift in-kind support towards Zoe’s home over the last two months with a total of $15,000.00 raised; Owings Brothers is also a Sponsor donating funds and labor for the project.  Check out the teams in action.

Zoe will invest at least 200 hours of sweat equity into the rehabilitation of her home; attend a series of homeownership courses that will prepare her for the joys and responsibilities of homeownership and she will qualify for a 30 year zero-interest mortgage that Habitat for Humanity of Carroll, Co will service here locally.  Zoe is tentatively scheduled to earn her home right before the Winter Holidays.
