This project had some site considerations that were very challenging. The homeowner wished to fill in a swimming pool at the rear of the house and construct a library to the right of the home with the requirement of a full basement. They had previously performed multiple renovation projects. This combined with the fact that they were long-term owners of the home allowed him the liberty to acquire somewhat of a custom look, which was desired.
This home addition incorporated a different architectural style than the existing home. We believe it was the architects’ desire to show it as a unique & interesting add-on to the existing structure. This somewhat defies the blending philosophy and gives more credence and support to the philosophy of “see me I am new and different,” allowing the homeowners to exhibit their own style and taste. When the project was complete the neighbors were all very complimentary as to how the two structures speak to each other.
