Cape Cod Exterior Facade
Most Cape Cod homes have little space to expand for your family’s needs in the 21st Century. Our client’s had a fabulous footprint in their 1950s, five bedroom and three bath Cape allowing our team to create all the desired new living space. By thinking outside the box the team was able to take the old bones of a breezeway, garage, and main living area for an open-concept living/kitchen room with a brand-new screened porch. A beautiful Cape Cod inside, and outside renovation that keeps the integrity of the home.
The first to happen in this scope of work was to move the front door to center it and add symmetry and curb appeal. Creating a new front facade with high-end materials such as new Marvin windows, siding, and slate roofing creates a seamless, up-to-date, and tasteful look. Brick was also painted copper gutters and downs were installed and the outdoor living space included a bluestone patio offering a luxury entertainment space to enjoy for years. The existing breezeway was incorporated into the kitchen which was then opened to the new living area with a built-in bar. Their kitchen needed an update and with this expansion, a very large island was included in the design plan. Also for this growing family, a new mud room was added with custom cubbies to keep everything in order decluttering the new space.
Open Concept Cape Cod
What has been trending for the last few years is to bring family and friends together in an open-concept living space. In our client’s 1955 Cape Cod, each space was divided from the other giving the house interior a smaller-looking footprint. By incorporating a seldom-used breezeway into part of the kitchen our design plan blew out the wall from both the breezeway and living room making the closed-off space expansive and light-filled. Now the new screened porch can be accessed by the living room creating great flow from indoors to outdoors and offering the homeowners even more living space. This overall Cape Cod renovation was a fabulous hit a ten on the scale of one to ten!
