Kitchen Cabinets Add Light
This Catonsville homeowner remodeled their 2007 kitchen and changed the room from dark to light with new kitchen cabinets and countertops. Dated maple cabinets with black countertops made the space look small. The peninsula closed off the kitchen from the dining area reducing the look and feel of the room further. Choosing to remove the peninsula enabled the homeowner to include a much larger island and created a better flow to the dining area. Selecting Dura Supreme white painted kitchen cabinets for the perimeter of the kitchen and gray painted island cabinets offered a light-reflectiveness the previous kitchen lacked. Most of the cabinets include partial glass lighted fronts that show off their Spode dishware. The difference is spectacular!
Our designers created a more efficient plan for this kitchen remodel by locating the sink, dishwasher and microwave/convection oven in the new larger island. This decluttered the counter space and provided even more countertop for meal prep. The new island now provides seating for four in addition to the dining area adjacent to the kitchen. Previously lighting consisted of recessed lights. With this new interior design plan under cabinet lighting and pendants for task lighting was incorporated adding a bright look and feel!
The icing on the proverbial cake was the beautiful kitchen backsplash. Stellar porcelain tile in Rainstorm was installed in a subway pattern with a complementary accent Quilted tile in Polished Calacatta over the commercial-style Wolf stove. Perimeter and island Zermatt Quartzite countertops add to the light and bright effect beautifully coordinating with the kitchen cabinets and backsplash. Lovely!
