Traditional Glyndon Home Remodel

1970’s Estate Makeover

The homeowners desire was to change their late 1970 traditional floor plan to a more functional, open and flowing space.  Additionally, they were hoping to reconfigure the following spaces: remodel the kitchen, create an expanded eat- in breakfast area, a lower level remodel and convert an open porch to a sun room to compliment an adjacent family room. There were great limitations to expanding in the rear of the home due to an inground swimming pool which hampered throwing on additional footage to solve the problems.

The existing house has a breezeway connecting the three car garage to the main house. This additional space offered many solutions in expanding the kitchen and incorporating a breakfast nook area. We removed 80% of the bearing walls in the rear of the home to create openness and to allow the spaces to flow. The existing open porch had to be structurally modified and was converted into a sunroom to incorporate finish details to match the family room.  A lovely Baltimore County estate revamped for the millennium!
