Need A Bedroom? Check the Attic!
The designers at Owings Brothers brought their creative talents together and transformed this dark, cramped and dingy attic room into a contemporary, eclectic bedroom hideaway. The Baltimore Symphony recently debuted their 40th Decorator Show House, “Mayfair”, located in Timonium, Maryland. The symphony selects a different Baltimore home each year to “makeover”. Designers from all over Maryland apply to be considered as one of the designers to showcase their talents to the many Maryland residents who visit the Decorator Show House each year.
This year our designers Angela Smith and Katie Heyman were selected to create a new and functional space from this old and forgotten attic room.
They designed the space with a contemporary look and feel then solicited Shofers Furniture Store to donate the furniture. Owings production crews and trades went to work to sand and finish the floors, paint, wallpaper and trim the attic space and the designers began selecting contemporary and eclectic pieces to offer “eye candy” to the beholder. The “hanging bed” was custom made by the Owings team and is really on a hidden pedestal, giving the illusion that it hangs from gold ropes fastened to the ceiling. Very unique and eye catching, especially, with the wildly patterned blue tones in the contemporary wallpapered accent wall.
The attic bedroom was one of only five rooms that were included in the Baltimore Sun Real Estate section. See for yourself the amazing transformation this space underwent. It was a privilege to support the arts in Baltimore and thank the Symphony for the honor in allowing us to offer our services.
