Master Bathroom Makeover

Transitional Style Master Bathroom

Our client lives in an affluent neighborhood in Howard County on a beautiful estate.  Though the house was custom built and full of amenities it was terribly dated.  One of the first projects that they desired was a master bathroom makeover. This project incorporated a complete overhaul of the bathroom and closet, the painting of the bedroom, adding a sitting room, and new access to the balcony.

Howard County Home Remodel

As you can see the original master bathroom had a traditional and dated look.  We were able to utilize the space more efficiently by removing the platform tub with stairs and installing instead a soaking tub with a quartz tub surround. The tub by Bain Ultra is equipped with aromatherapy, heated backrest, and air bubble features to create a relaxing place to unwind.  The bathroom kept a formal air with large simple floor tiles and a custom double sink vanity.  The vanity was finished with a three-step stain and custom glaze with gray tones to bring out the same color in the mosaic shower walls and floors.  The mosaic is created with a Carrera marble and Travertine blend with a beautiful clear glass surround.

Walk-in Custom Closets

This master suite includes a roomy sitting area for enjoying coffee and conversation in the morning or for catching up on the news on the large flat-screen television.  The sitting area has access to a balcony with an amazing view!  Enjoy your favorite cocktail while taking in the beautifully landscaped yard or star gazing at night.  Our client’s master bathroom makeover was just what was needed to create a retreat space after a long day at the office.

Kitchen And Entry Remodel

This project also includes updating the kitchen and entryway.  See some before and after images of the transformation.

We gave the kitchen a facelift by adding a beautiful new island in a cream-painted finish.  It is equipped with a Mele Steam Oven and a new Cosmic Black countertop on the island and perimeter cabinets.  The exquisite large copper hood over the stovetop was added to create more interest in the focal point. Two large Chateau 8 light chandeliers over the island bring a dramatic formal look.  Overall the greatest change for this kitchen update is the restored terra cotta tile that came directly from Paris.  We removed the hardwood and laid the tile in a herringbone pattern creating the feel of old-world Europe.

As you can see the original butler’s pantry was dark and uninviting and had become a catch-all room.  Remodeling to include the same cream-painted cabinets and black countertops as the island brought cohesiveness.  Incorporating lighted cabinetry allowed for showing off their collection of dishware bringing brightness to the area that had limited natural light.  What a difference!

The beauty of this home was the grand amount of space we had to work with for renovating.  An original entry had a prominent staircase but gave the space a heavy and dated look  Choosing to recreate the stairs from the standard steps and balusters for a new softer look with custom-made balusters was breathtaking.  Note the change of the location of the staircase from the wrap-around catwalk. Transitioning to a simple style makes the foyer look more spacious.  This new staircase design creates a dramatic feel and invites you to the second floor.
