White Open Concept Kitchen Remodel

White Kitchen Open Concept

clean white kitchen cabinets and countertops

From dark and dingy to light and bright this homeowner remodeled the kitchen of their 1980’s home to a white open concept floorplan.  They added spaciousness by removing walls and a neutral color palette.  This solidly built home had much to offer a growing family but needed to be a less traditional, closed floorplan to meet the family’s needs.  An open concept plan was created by our Interior Design Team which included opening the kitchen to the family room.  (Client also removed a wall separating the dining room from the living room enlarging the formal space not shown.)

Are you looking for a less traditional floor plan for your family home?  You can create the space you need and stay in your present home.  Call our office today and allow our Interior Design Team to provide ideas and drawings to make your home everything you desire.

By removing the interior wall partitioning the kitchen from a family room the clients enjoy a fireplace and sitting area within the kitchen.  Since much of the family’s gathering times are around the kitchen island this idea was a great solution for expanding the kitchen.  Now the family can watch a television program or the game and be included in preparing the meal or snacks.

Color Can Make The Difference

The change from dark wood cabinets to bright white cabinets allows more light and gives the illusion of an even larger space.  Keeping the theme neutral the homeowner chose a Calcutta marble backsplash in shades of beige and white along with white quartz countertops for resiliency.  The 30/70 split Shaker style Koch cabinetry offers lighted glass tops which increases light reflectiveness.  Also, the large island in a gray painted shaker style cabinet brings a subtle contrast and interest.  To top off the beauty of this space bling was chosen with gold-tone hardware.

By including the family room with the kitchen the homeowner spends time entertaining in the newly remodeled space.  Our designer created a wet bar area that also offers great storage for larger kitchen platters and items seldom used.  Video storage and electronics are also stored in this bank of white Shaker cabinets that match the kitchen.  The additional counter area provides room for storing libations, mixing drinks, and an under-counter beverage frig for keeping cold things cold.

Like many families are you looking for additional storage space in your home?  By adding a bank of cabinets to an existing family room you can create this storage space and add a wet bar.  Do you have an open concept living area now?  Let our team of experts help you add more storage through our custom closet and storage division.

Additional Remodeling For Natural Light

Our clients also updated the finished basement in their home with new sliders for a walk-out to the pool and a new patio area.  The new doors bring more natural light into an otherwise dark space making the basement more inviting for friends and family after a day floating in the in-ground pool!

Is your basement dark and not attractive for entertaining friends?  Perhaps all you need is a little natural light!  We offered this family the ability to have direct access to their patio and pool providing additional entertaining space in their home.  Installing a large bank of sliding doors brings in the light and makes the basement area more conducive to enjoying the outdoor living space.  Have you wanted to enjoy the outdoors more especially with more people working from home?  Take a look at some of our outdoor living ideas.
